Market intelligence, tested
Spot the tell.
Skip the bluff
TellHawk reads the official record every night: filings, insider trades, fund holdings, short interest, economic releases and news. It lines it all up for any stock, and tests any strategy after costs before you trust it.
Samples use real TellHawk data as of Sep 25, 2026. The terminal covers thousands of US-listed stocks. Research only, not investment advice.

Every night TellHawk reads what companies, insiders, funds and governments have officially published. It doesn't guess, and it doesn't sell tips. It lines up the evidence for any stock, tests any strategy after costs, on years it has never seen, and tells you plainly what holds up.
Why TellHawk
Most backtests are bluffs. Ours have to show their work.
A strategy that looks brilliant in a spreadsheet usually falls apart once trading costs, hindsight and luck are counted. TellHawk counts them first.
The usual backtest
- Uses today's list of companies, so the ones that went bust are quietly missing.
- Ignores fees and the cost of actually getting filled.
- Tunes the rule on the same years it reports.
- Shows the best of fifty tries as if it were the only one.
A TellHawk test
- Replays each day seeing only what was known that day.
- Prices every trade net of fees and slippage, then again at triple costs.
- Holds back the most recent years and judges the rule on those.
- Counts every version you tried and discounts the result for it.
What's inside
One terminal for the evidence behind a stock.
Morning brief and market posture
Start the day with volatility, the yield curve, credit conditions and how speculators are positioned, each with its official source and the date it describes.
- Risk-on / risk-off votes you can inspect
- Futures positioning from weekly CFTC reports
- Every block dated, nothing presented as live when it isn't

A full report on any ticker
Price and momentum, short-squeeze conditions, insider buying and selling, institutional ownership, fundamentals and filings on one page, each figure traceable to where it came from.
- Insider trades from SEC Form 4 filings
- Short interest reports
- Fundamentals from companies' own SEC filings

News that shows what the market did next
SEC filings, the press releases attached to them, headlines and official releases from the Federal Reserve, BLS, BEA and others, labelled by kind and measured against how the stock actually moved.
- Repeats of the same story folded into one line
- Reaction against the S&P 500, not just the raw move
- A built-in test of whether news tone predicts anything

Everything in TellHawk
24 tools in one terminal.
Pick a group, then a tool, to see the questions it answers and where its data comes from.
Strategy Lab
Test an idea before you trust it.
Describe a rule in plain steps, or pick one from the shelf, and replay it through years of real history. The Scoreboard ranks every strategy by the evidence behind it, so you know which ideas hold up before you put money on them.
- No code needed; SQL and machine-learning steps if you want them
- Nine evidence tests, including a correction for how many versions you tried
- Promising ideas are frozen and tracked on data that didn't exist yet

How a strategy earns a verdict
Six stages every idea has to survive.
These six stages hold nine individual tests that run on every backtest in the Lab. A rule reaches "passed the tests" only if it clears all of them, and "holding up" only after its picks beat the market on new data.
Only what was known that day
Every decision sees filings by their filing date and prices up to the close before, never the future.
Net of fees and slippage
Priced as traded, then re-priced at three times the cost to see whether the edge was just cheap fills.
Judged on data it wasn't built on
The latest years are held back. The rule has to beat the market there, not only where it was tuned.
Hard to explain by chance
A statistical test and a check that five lucky periods aren't carrying the whole result.
Discounted for every version
The more variations tested, the higher the bar, so the best of a big pile doesn't pass by accident.
Watched on new data
Picks are frozen on a date and compared with the market as real days arrive. No backtest can fake this one.
Data you can check
Built on public records, verified every night.
TellHawk loads official data overnight and then checks a random sample of what it shows against the original publishers. The pass rate is published in the terminal every day, failures included.
Data refreshed from the original sources after the US close.
Automated checks against source documents every night.
SEC 8-K company events on record back to this year.
Evidence tests every strategy in the Lab faces.

About TellHawk
Built because the evidence was scattered and the claims were loud.
Serious investment research usually means twenty browser tabs: SEC filings in one place, insider trades in another, economic releases on a dozen government sites, and a backtest someone posted online with no costs and no way to check it. The information that matters is public. It is just hard to put together, and easy to dress up.
TellHawk was built to do that work properly. It gathers official records every night, checks a sample of them against the original sources, and lays them out so you can see what a company, a sector or the economy is actually doing, with the date and the source on every figure.
The Strategy Lab exists for the same reason. Before you trust an idea with money, you should know whether it holds up once trading costs, hindsight and luck are counted. TellHawk runs those checks for you and shows the result plainly, whichever way it goes.
What it's for
- Researching a company before you buy or sell
- Following insiders, funds and short sellers through their filings
- Reading the economy from official releases
- Testing a strategy on history before risking real money
- Keeping an eye on the things you care about with your own rules
What it isn't
- Not a broker: it never places trades or holds your money
- Not advice: it doesn't know your situation or tell you what to do
- Not a prediction machine: history is tested, the future isn't promised
- Not a tip service: there are no hot picks, only evidence you can check
How we work
- Sources on everything
- Every screen says where its numbers come from and what date they describe.
- Tested, not assumed
- Strategies are judged after costs, on data they weren't built on.
- Checked every night
- A sample of the data is compared with the original publishers, and the pass rate is shown in the product.
- Plain language
- Every tool has a guide that explains what the numbers mean and where they fall short.

Questions
Straight answers.
Is this investment advice?
No. TellHawk shows data and tests ideas on history. It doesn't know your situation and doesn't tell anyone what to buy or sell. Past results, including ones that pass every test, don't guarantee future returns.
Can I trade from TellHawk?
No. TellHawk is a research tool. Nothing in it places orders or connects to your brokerage account.
Does the Lab only show strategies that work?
It shows the evidence for every strategy, strong or weak, so you decide with the full picture. Finding out an idea doesn't hold up in a test costs nothing; finding out with real money does.
Where does the data come from?
Mostly official public records: SEC filings, short-interest reports, CFTC, the Federal Reserve, US statistical agencies and other government publishers. Screens name their sources and the date the data describes.
